Hurricane Sandy

I have lived in the midwest all my life. To me bad weather is a blizzard. Blizzards suck, every once and a while the power goes out but in the end its just something you get use to. I cannot fathom what the residents of New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington DC, and all of the other states in the East Coast affected by Sandy. My thoughts and prayers goes out to everyone on the east coast.

I very much doubt that I need to talk about Sandy, every major and minor news agency is covering it. It is hard to understand the power of the storm, the pictures just start to tell the story.

As dangerous as the water, wind and snow, millions are without power. Under optimal conditions being without power is an inconvenience but not usually life threatening. During a disaster however its one of the worst things that could happen. No power means food starts to spoil, hospitals have to rely on backup power (that isn’t meant to run the entire hospital, just the vital parts for a short time). Downed power lines with flooding can be fatal for anyone traveling through the area. The list goes on and on.

All I can say is if you are affected by Sandy and you are reading this STAY STRONG! We (country) are behind you. Things will get better. We are Americans and when the going gets tough we band together and fight back.
