To the top of Shanghai Tower

Shanghai Tower. 650 meters off the ground. And apparently a great opportunity for urban exploring. Do not try this. Also if you have vertigo you might not want to watch this…

Ford Focus S or Mercedes-Benz S600? Which would you choose?

Cars. For some people they are only a mode of transportation while for others they are something special. The point of this is to show you that you don’t need to be a millionaire to drive truly amazing cars.

The 2014 Ford Focus S has a base price of $16,635 and that is the budget. I’ll probably push the budget by a few dollars with some of these choices but you’ll get the idea. For about the same as a base model economy sedan you can get something far from the base model.

Choice One: Luxury

This car may be 10 years old but you wouldn’t know it by looking at it. It doesn’t look outdated and except for the built in phone it doesn’t feel outdated either. When this car was new it retailed for almost $123,000. A decade later you don’t find yourself missing features. If a base model Focus has it now chances are this car had it 10 years ago as well as some very nice extras. For instance all of the seats have electric adjustments. That includes the back seats. Built in massagers are a nice compliment to the both heated and cooled seats. That trim you see is real walnut.

Luxury is great but do you know what is even better? When that luxury has almost 500 bhp. This S600 has a 5.5L V12 under the hood. While it might hurt when you fill up at the gas station you’re guaranteed to be smiling every time the stoplight turns green.

So what does a luxury car with a huge engine go for these days?

And yes. That is the buy it now price, not just the current bid. Ebay Link

That’s hardly your only option though. Let’s move on to…

How To Drive Classic Cars Every Day — JALOPNIK ON DRIVE

Video

Yes I’ve been on a bit of a car kick lately. This is most likely due to the fact that it is currently snowing outside (welcome to April in Minnesota).

I have never been to New York City. I’m sure I’ll get there soon and if I ever find myself inside the Classic Car Club I’m sure I’ll be buying a cheap Brooklyn apartment and spending $8,000/year to drive these cars. In the mean time I’ll just keep on watching this video. For those of you around Manhattan here is their website: classiccarclubmanhattan.com

I think I might have to book a flight to New York. Oh and they also have a BMW M2. I’ll post a video about what an M2 is later. I’ll give you a hint. It involves a classic M car and 2002… and I’m not talking about the year.

One Car to Do it All – Petrolicious

I love cars. I love cars that are fast, more than that I love cars that emotionally move you. I have always liked the look of a Porsche 911… Kind of. Less so the looks of the late 90’s  early 2000s models. But other than that I’ve liked them. This 911 is one I would definitely love to own. Or rather build for myself. Enjoy!

The Future of Cars. Electric? Maybe. Maybe not…

Cars. I love em. I don’t have the nicest car around but I drive it to it’s limits (and often past) enjoying most of it. I’m not sure what my next car will be but I can tell you I doubt it will be an electric car or a hybrid. Why you ask? Well I’m a college student. My next car will be used. It might be unrealistic for me to still be looking at 2002 M5s (with that awesome big V8) with the way gas prices are going, but I also can’t afford to get an electric car. Regardless I still am very interested in the future of the car industry. Even if I won’t be buying the future for a while.

Electric cars aren’t anything new. They’ve been around for a while. I won’t go into a history lesson but seeing a picture with Edison and an electric car should tell you all you need to know.  I feel like things are changing now. Blame it on the gas prices going up or people talking about the end of the world. Either way most people will agree electric cars are in the public eye again. I think they have a ways to go before they are in every garage though. So here are my notes.

GoPro. Emphasis on the Pro.

(c) 2012 GoPro

I was a happy and proud owner of a GoPro HD Hero. Then the Hero 2 came out. I was bummed that mine didn’t have the adjustable field of view but over all it was no big deal. Then Go Pro released the GoPro Hero 3 Black Edition and completely out did themselves.

Go Pros have always been good cameras but they are the extra camera. The video quality is good but you also have the excuse “well the camera is super small. What do you expect?” You can take that excuse and throw it out the window. The new camera is playing with the big boys now.

Watch This! Sandy Edition.

If you follow No Tie Tuesday (okay I’ll only say this this one time. If you don’t, please do. Your support may very well pay for a fraction of one of my college text books, the ones I should be reading but instead spend my time writing posts on here.) you know that I give Neistat rave reviews (he is the [only] watch this! pick of the month). I think he is a great independent film maker. I like his films don’t feel like the stuff you watch on TV. Its very unique. Anyways he lives in NYC and made this video about biking in NYC. Enjoy.

Link to Donate to the Red Cross

Full Disclosure: I do not work for the Red cCross. This link is just one I got off their website. If you feel more comfortable just going to their website go ahead and do that. Do be careful who you donate to though. Some scams pop up when a disaster happens.

God Bless America.

EXTRA EXTRA! Free today only, CarTunes Player

I previously picked CarTunes as an app to have especially if you travel a lot and enjoy listening to music. Check out the article here. The app is usually $4.99 but today is free! Download it! You won’t regret it. Unfortunately this is a today only deal so if you are reading this today enjoy! If not then here is another reason why you should subscribe to my blog.

CarTunes – Free (iPhone and iPad)

Have $7000? Buy a parasail!

When left to my own devices I dream up many crazy things to do with my life. Often they involve travel and more often than not they involve doing something that is out of the norm (after all who wants to do stuff that everyone and their mother does?). Enter Paramotoring. It’s basically like parachuting upside down.

First off you have a motor strapped to your back, start it up and defy gravity. Really the best way is just to see it.

When I travel I think I’m going to be packing this in my luggage for those times when I want to see the top of the mountain but I don’t feel like climbing.

Watch This! Pick of the month… week.. day.. hour?

I find that I spend a ridiculous amount of time on the internet. I have woken up with my iPhone in my hand and me surfing the web on Safari. How I got there I still don’t know. All this hitchhiking on the super highway we have come to call the web has gotten me lost more than once. I mean why not waste hours on end seeing what double digit millions can buy you on the beaches of SoCal? Every once and a while it does lead me something great.

Enter Casey Neistat. A man who was able to do what has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember, travel the world. Best part? Nike paid him to do this.
