Connecticut Shooting. Victoria Soto. Hero.

If you have been on the internet, or seen a paper or tv you know what happened on friday. There was an act of evil. An act which shock our nation at its core. And unfortunately that was most likely the goal of this attack. I would like to remind you of the flip side. The side that houses the victims, their families and the heroes. Ask yourself facing the barrel of a loaded gun, would you be able to stand your ground knowing you are in your final moments on this earth. I asked myself this question and I know I would like to say yes no problem, however I believe its something you will never truly know until you are there. I pray that I will never be in that situation, and that if I am God will give me the strength to stand tall. I would like to tell you about someone who has become a hero of mine.

Teachers already hold a special place in my heart, I respect them. They are to thank for every basement born millionaire, president, doctor, and parent. If you live in this country you almost certainly have some form of education.

Victoria Soto

This is a woman who was faced with that impossible situation and made a choice. Her choice saved the lives of those children. And in my book that makes her a hero. The media focuses too often on those who spread fear and chaos. Lets instead remember those who put a stop to it. Those who hid their students and showed an immense amount of courage. Those are the heroes, they are the ones who should be remembered. Please take a moment to watch these videos. Look up Miss Soto. Hug your wife, husband, daughter, son, brother, sister, mother, father, your friend, and your enemy. Call up that person you haven’t talked to in ages. Share the love. Because as infectious as fear can be, I pray that love is even stronger and spreads even quicker.

Please take a moment to read the names of the victims. These are the names that we should be remembering. These are the names that should be in our prayers.

GoPro. Emphasis on the Pro.

(c) 2012 GoPro

I was a happy and proud owner of a GoPro HD Hero. Then the Hero 2 came out. I was bummed that mine didn’t have the adjustable field of view but over all it was no big deal. Then Go Pro released the GoPro Hero 3 Black Edition and completely out did themselves.

Go Pros have always been good cameras but they are the extra camera. The video quality is good but you also have the excuse “well the camera is super small. What do you expect?” You can take that excuse and throw it out the window. The new camera is playing with the big boys now.

Watch This! Pick of the… Just watch.

First off I have a very interesting fear of heights. Why is it interesting? Well because I am super afraid being 20 feet off the ground but 100 feet doesn’t bother me. I figured out any height I assume I will die from the fear is gone. Any of these heights I just get a huge rush of adrenaline.

Well that was kind of a long introduction just to say I really love videos that push the envelope. That do things that are right on the edge of safety (but that stay on the safe side!). Without further ado I give you the worlds largest rope swing. Enjoy!

P.S. Please don’t try this at home. Your hill in your back yard isn’t tall enough. And if you do don’t sue me. I didn’t make the movie… Probably don’t sue him either though. He makes cool videos (remember the parasailing video? No? Go there now then! oh and subscribe to my blog!)

Watch This! Sandy Edition.

If you follow No Tie Tuesday (okay I’ll only say this this one time. If you don’t, please do. Your support may very well pay for a fraction of one of my college text books, the ones I should be reading but instead spend my time writing posts on here.) you know that I give Neistat rave reviews (he is the [only] watch this! pick of the month). I think he is a great independent film maker. I like his films don’t feel like the stuff you watch on TV. Its very unique. Anyways he lives in NYC and made this video about biking in NYC. Enjoy.

Link to Donate to the Red Cross

Full Disclosure: I do not work for the Red cCross. This link is just one I got off their website. If you feel more comfortable just going to their website go ahead and do that. Do be careful who you donate to though. Some scams pop up when a disaster happens.

God Bless America.

Gizmodo’s servers are down because of Sandy. Never the less they are still writing.

This time it was no hype. Sandy rampaged through New York, New Jersey and the rest of the Northeast. The damage has been enormous, including massive flooding everywhere, collapsed buildings, generator malfunctions in hospitals, multiple fires, city-wide blackouts and explosions in electric plants. Some of the subway system may be offline for a month. And yes, mortal victims too.

Gizmodo’s servers, located in a data center in Lower Manhattan, were knocked out too, but this article contains all the updates since the moment of the city shutdown. Refresh for live updates…

Hurricane Sandy

I have lived in the midwest all my life. To me bad weather is a blizzard. Blizzards suck, every once and a while the power goes out but in the end its just something you get use to. I cannot fathom what the residents of New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington DC, and all of the other states in the East Coast affected by Sandy. My thoughts and prayers goes out to everyone on the east coast.

One small step for man… one giant Leap for mankind.

“I’m sorry, Dave. I’m afraid I can’t do that.”

The year is 1968. 2001 A Space Odyssey just came out and people all over the world are imagining what the future will hold. 44 years later I’m asking myself why we are still living in the past.

Sure we are futuristic to a point. We have phones that are mini computers. We have tablets that are suppose to be our portable window into the world. We have computers that have immense power and yet we are still in the 1960s. We are still managing our digital lives with files and folders. We limit ourselves to the two-dimensional world and the few times we try to go into a three-dimensional digital world it kind of sucks!
